This tourist oriented island is known for its natural beauty, diving, beaches, nightlife and duty free shopping. We had a brief stay here and took a ride up the Langkawi Cable Car. The gondola ride took us about a mile and a half up by to the peak of Gunung Machinchang. We also got to walk across the Sky Bridge and see the beautiful views below.

We visited the Laman Padi, a rice paddy “garden” where we had an education in the stages of rice growing and walked through a rather sweet rice museum.

Langkawi is surrounded by beautiful little islands. It’s also a popular jumping off for trips to Turkish islands.
